BOB’s Mission

Food insecurity doesn't follow the calendar. It doesn't pause in the spring, take the summer off, or wait until next December. For families who rely on food banks, the need is the same in March as it is in November. The donations aren't.

That is the gap Bank on Bellies was built to close.Holiday food drives are vital.

They generate enormous community support and are a critical part of what keeps food banks running. But when donations concentrate in one season and taper off for the rest of the year, food banks are left managing an unpredictable supply against a consistent demand. Nutritious options run thin. Planning becomes difficult. The families who depend on these services most are the ones who feel that instability.

BOB exists to support food banks with something they can build on: a steady, year-round supply of healthy, nutritious non-perishable food that collected during the months when donations are hardest to come by.

We are building that commitment two ways. Through our Ambassador Program, individuals and organizations run their own BOB-supported food drives in their schools, workplaces, and communities, extending our reach into every corner of the calendar. And through BOB chapters on university campuses across Canada, students forge direct relationships with local food banks and bring together businesses and community partners committed to showing up beyond the holiday season.

Together, Ambassadors and chapters give food banks what they deserve: consistent support from people who genuinely care.
